Joyce Guojun Ma, DDS, PhD, MAGD, MICOI

Dr. Joyce Ma attended dental school at Peking University in China, graduating with her Bachelor of Dental Medicine degree in 1998; she then attended New York University, from which she graduated with her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2010. She also completed her PhD in neuroscience through John Hopkins University in 2005 as well as advanced training through the Rockefeller University Postdoctoral Fellowship between 2005-2007. Dr. Ma has over 24 years of experience providing care and has practiced in the Montgomery area since graduating from NYU in 2010.

Dr. Ma is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Dental Association®, Academy of General Dentistry, Academy of Laser Dentistry, American Academy of Facial Esthetics, International Congress of Oral Implantologists and United States Dental Institute. Additionally, she has also received a number of awards, including the John Hopkins Young Investigator Award, and holds a Rockefeller University patent for fluorescence.

Outside of the office, Dr. Ma is also a landscape photographer and has a GPSA title from the Photography Society of America.

Dr. Ang Li DMD, PhD, FAGD

Born and raised in Tianjin, China. Dr. Ang Li completed his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of Birmingham in England and his Ph.D. degree in cancer biology at Glasgow University in Scotland. In the last year of his Ph.D., he was awarded the Jane Coffin Child postdoc fellowship to study skin cancer at Rockefeller University in New York City. While working with patients who suffered from skin cancer, Dr. Li found his passion in direct patient care. After shadowing several dentists in New York City, he decided to pursue his 2nd doctoral degree in dentistry, a decision he is proud of to this day.

Dr. Li has an impressive track record of academic excellence, he has 16 publications in high-impact scientific journals. Upon graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine, He continues to learn from the best dentists in the country by attending continuing education courses and growing as a dentist with a firm belief in lifetime learning. In addition to his work in private practices, Dr. Li also served as part time clinical faculty at Upenn dental school from 2022 to 2024.

He enjoys building relationships with patients of all ages and strives to make everyone feel comfortable in his chair. While practicing evidence-based dentistry, he truly cares for his patients and puts his patients’ best interests first.

When he is not practicing, he loves traveling and exploring new places. He also likes photography and tennis.
